Nasdaq Futures / NQ – Forecast for 22 April 2025
Mixed to mild-bullish sentiment expected
The sentiment is expected to be bullish today. We are in a shorter bullish time cycle that ends on 23 April 2025, and another bullish time cycle starts on 25 April 2025. There is no bearish cycle between these, only a consolidation cycle.
Yesterday, we expected a bullish sentiment after a drop at the beginning of the day. But, that did not work out as expected. The forecasted drop was too strong. The bearish moves were strong, and NQ could not recover in the day. The overall bias for yesterday failed, and the forecast did not work out. That is a divergence from the expected price action, and it occurs sometimes. This is why we always use time cycles in confluence with the price action. Yesterday, we got both good bullish and bearish entries at the beginning using the intraday time cycles. And as planned, we were very cautious with any bearish positions, unable to capture the full potential of those. And when NQ broke and sustained below 18000 levels, we were in an unplanned and unexpected territory.
Today's time cycle suggests a mixed to mildly bullish sentiment for NQ. A bearish move is expected at the beginning of the day. The mixed sentiment raises the risk of a choppy day. At the time of writing this, NQ has almost recovered in the overnight markets.
The divergence of price action and forecasts from time cycle models is unsuitable for our edge. The concerning part, however, is that there are too many bullish forecasts from the weekend and unexpected bearish moves in the market. There could be a larger time cycle that our models do not see. We will be using smaller position sizes until these forecasts show some convergence.
Today's opening trade bias. (9.30 am)
Around 9.27-9.30 am, we could see some bearish momentum that could last until 9.35 am. However, the first 20 seconds to one minute at 9.30 am could show some bullishness, and hence, it is necessary to choose an appropriate trade location.
The direction may suddenly change after the first 20-35 minutes
